There are many ways to come to Saskatchewan either temporarily or permanently. You can come temporarily to visit, study or work.

If you want to work permanently, or start a business in Saskatchewan, there are several options:

Immigrate through the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP). Most SINP categories require that you have a job offer from a Saskatchewan employer that you have the qualification to fulfil.

Immigrate through a federal category of Citizenship and Immigration Canada.

Although you may be eligible to immigrate to Saskatchewan through a federal immigration category, this does not guarantee that your qualifications will be recognized or that there will be a job opening in your occupation.

Immigrating through the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP)

The Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) is an alternative program to the Canadian federal immigration program if you want to come to Saskatchewan as a permanent resident of Canada.

If you want to immigrate to Canada under the nominee program, you must have the specific skills, education and work experience that match Saskatchewan's economic needs. You must also be ready to make Saskatchewan your new home.

How does the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) work?

The Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) operates under an agreement with the federal government allows Saskatchewan to select applicants based on criteria established by the province. The criteria for this program are different from those of the federal immigration program.

There are eight categories for nomination: Skilled Workers, Entrepreneurs, Family Members, Farmers, Health Professions, Hospitality Sector Pilot Project, Long Haul Truck Drivers, and Students.

Most of the categories require you to have a job offer from a Saskatchewan employer that is related to your education and work experience. See the Working section for more information.

If you apply and are eligible under the nominee program, the SINP will issue you a nomination letter confirming that you have been selected. (If your application is not approved, you can request a second review.) After you receive the nomination letter, you will submit your application and provincial nomination letter to the CIC Centralized Intake Office (CIO) in Sydney, Nova Scotia Canada. The CIO will receive the application and then transfer it to the appropriate visa office outside of Canada for further processing.

Although Saskatchewan may nominate you, your application for immigration to Canada must be approved by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC). CIC completes health, criminality and security assessments and they make the final decision to issue your visa.

The SINP works through Government of Canada embassies and consulates around the world and does not engage the exclusive services of any agencies or representatives in any jurisdictions. SINP applicants may choose to engage the services of an immigration consultant or not, however, no immigration consultant has or will be allocated an immigrant quota from the Province of Saskatchewan. Application from immigration consultants are processed according to the same rules and with the same priorities as other applications.

Why choose the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP)?

Some applicants who do not meet federal immigration criteria may be eligible under the SINP. The SINP assists you with your application for permanent residency by reviewing your forms and documentation before you submit them to CIC.

As a provincial nominee, your application will be processed on the priority basis by CIC because you have already passed an immigration selection process through the SINP.

1. What is a Canada Immigration Visa?

A Canada Immigration (Permanent Resident) Visa is a document which allows a person to live and work anywhere in Canada, and confers upon that person Permanent Resident status. It comes with certain responsibilities and may be revoked if the holder does not meet Canadian residency obligations, or is found guilty of serious criminal activity. A person who is a Canadian Permanent Resident may apply for Canadian Citizenship after 3 years.

2. How is a Work Permit different from a CanadaImmigration Visa?

A Work Permit allows an eligible visitor to reside and work in Canada for a limited period of time, and restrictions are usually placed on the type of employment which can be pursued. It will not, by itself, lead to Canadian Permanent Resident status. By contrast, a Canada Immigration Visa entitles its holder to live and work anywhere in Canada, enjoy many of the privileges of Canadian Citizenship, apply for Canadian Citizenship after 3 years and sponsor family members for Canadian Permanent Resident status.

3. Can I apply for Permanent Resident statusandTemporary status at the same time?

You can apply for Permanent Resident status and Temporary status at the same time. Canadian Immigration policy recognizes the concept of dual intent.

4. Is my current immigration status relevant for Canadian Immigration purposes?

Yes and no. You must submit your Canada Immigration Visa Application (Application for Permanent Residence in Canada) to the Canadian Immigration Visa Office responsible for the country of your citizenship or to the visa office responsible for the country you are currently residing in if you have been legally admitted to that country for at least one year.Canada immigration policy ignores an applicant's foreign immigration status as long as the applicant meets the requirements in the preceding paragraph. However, some Canada Immigration Applications have been refused on the grounds of criminal inadmissibility where the applicant has admitted to having knowingly violated the immigration laws of a foreign jurisdiction.

5. I have heard that Canada Immigration Regulations have changed. How will I be affected?

Canada immigration regulations, laws and policies are constantly subject to change. The effect of these changes will vary considerably from one applicant to another, depending on the particular circumstances.

6. Is there a benefit to using an attorney for immigration to Canada?

Yes, there is. Even though Citizenship and Immigration Canada permits you to submit a Canadian Immigration Visa Application on your own, statistically, your chances of succeeding are increased if a qualified Canadian immigration attorney represents you. Moreover, a perfected application will, in many cases, shorten the immigration process, allowing you to obtain your Canada Immigration Visa faster.

Q: How long will the application take to process?

A: In order to ensure that applicants meet the relevant criteria for a specific visa, the time it takes to assess each application may vary. Now embassy has moved to chennai India. visa is very strict from srilanka. I have applied for a student visa. my friend got visa but i didn't . Although the documents are correct they refuse our visa. Some says they are doing this to give chances to Tamils and Muslims.
